Customs Duties & Import Taxes
Last updated: August 2026
At Sofie London, we are committed to providing a transparent shopping experience. This Customs Duties & Import Taxes Policy explains how customs charges, import duties, taxes, and other government-imposed fees may apply to international orders.
By placing an order through our website, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined below.
Customs Duties and Import Taxes
Depending on your delivery destination, your order may be subject to customs duties, import taxes, import VAT, clearance fees, or other charges imposed by local customs authorities or government agencies.
These charges are determined by the destination country and are outside the control of Sofie London.
Any applicable customs duties, import taxes, or similar charges are the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise required by applicable law.
We Cannot Estimate Customs Charges
Customs regulations vary between countries and may change without notice.
For this reason, Sofie London cannot:
-
estimate customs duties or import taxes before delivery;
-
guarantee whether customs charges will apply to a particular order;
-
influence or control customs decisions made by government authorities.
Customers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with any applicable customs regulations or import charges in their country before placing an order.
Delays Caused by Customs
Customs inspections and clearance procedures are carried out by local authorities.
Although we work to dispatch and deliver orders as efficiently as possible, Sofie London is not responsible for delays caused by:
-
customs inspections;
-
import processing;
-
government agencies;
-
border clearance procedures;
-
payment of customs duties or taxes by the customer.
Estimated delivery times provided on our website do not include delays caused by customs authorities.
Refused Shipments
If a customer refuses to accept a shipment due to customs duties, import taxes, or similar charges, the shipment may be returned by the carrier.
Any refund request for a refused shipment will only be considered after:
-
the shipment has been successfully returned; and
-
the returned goods have been received and inspected, where applicable.
Where permitted by applicable law, Sofie London reserves the right to deduct from any refund any costs incurred as a result of the refused shipment, including but not limited to:
-
shipping costs;
-
return shipping costs;
-
customs charges;
-
carrier handling fees;
-
other costs resulting from the refused delivery.
If the shipment cannot be returned or is destroyed by customs or the carrier due to refusal, a refund may not be possible.
Incorrect Customs Information
Customers are responsible for providing accurate shipping information.
Sofie London is not responsible for additional customs costs, delays, or delivery issues resulting from inaccurate or incomplete shipping information supplied by the customer.
Compliance with Local Laws
Customers are responsible for ensuring that products ordered from Sofie London comply with the import laws and regulations of their destination country.
If local authorities prohibit or restrict the import of certain products, Sofie London cannot be held responsible for any resulting delays, seizures, or additional costs.
